OM MANI PADME HUM
The literal translation of Mani is "pearl", "jewel" or "gem". In the Indian tradition, it refers to the image of a spirituality illuminated by goodness, marked by compassion and love for the world. Just as a jewel is capable of eliminating material poverty, Mani is capable of eliminating spiritual poverty. If we divide Mani into two parts, we also get the root "Ma" and "Ni".
The first term refers to ethics and evokes the abandonment of the feeling of jealousy. The second describes the rejection of entertainment and the illusory. In Tibetan Buddhism, Mani is also associated with the color green and the feeling of compassion.
